Balanced diet: Women need to consider what they do and need throughout the weekdays and weekends and try to balance not only caloric intake with output but also nutrient (eg, folate) need and expenditure. This requires keeping a food diary, taking it to a nutritionist and following that plan daily. Seems like a lot of effort but there will soon be great apps for that. As they come along, i will share in comments.

Anything that works: Many of my patients ask this question. I usually refer them to a low chol diet, but a lot of them like a 1200-1500 calorie diet to maintain weight. I think keeping your diet balanced with greens and protein will never be a wrong answer. Of course it depends on your bmi. If you are overweight, a 1500 cal diet would be good.
