More a waste of time: If something needs to drain it will spontaneously.If you have a middle ear infection the fluid must drain into your throat from the eustachian tube. If outer ear, it drains by itself. If you enjoy holding your head over boiling water, do so & you can relax. I wouldn't ever do it myself.
