Do a "tour visit": Depending on you son's age, you might want to find a pediatric dentist and ask about a tour visit. Do it when the office is less busy. Usually they will show kids dental tools and let then go up and down the chair. First real visit should just be for cleaning. To find aboard certified peds dentist, go to www.Abpd.Org. Good luck.

More specific : Could you please be more specific. How old is your son? Has he had a traumatic experience at the dentist? What is the condition of his teeth?

Age?: If your son is a minor, he doesn't get to make that decision. You, as a parent, must make it for him. See if the dentist or pediatric dental specialist will see him for a non-treatment get acquainted visit. Problem may be fear of the unknown. If your child is over 18, and wants to be stupid about caring for his own health, there's not much you can do except try to reason with him.
