Blood gas: An arterial blood gas can give information about metabolic status of patients, such as acidosis ( low blood ph ) or alkalosis ( elevated ph) , the oxygen saturation of hemoglobin, carbon dioxide concetration in the blood, these parameters in the blood gas can be affected by infection, kidney problems, diabetes, etc..., can give an idea why patient may be breathing too fast (hyperventilation).
