TMD diagnosis: The best thing to do is find out what type of TMJ issues you are having. A thourough evaluation of your teeth, jaw alignment, and health of your jaw joints by an orthodontist will get you headed in the right direction. Jaw joint issues are very complicated and trying to find the reason for the jaw issues is the first step then you can work on treatment options.

Depends on the cause: The diagnosis and who presented it to you is imperative. Did you find out by talking to someone who has it or read about it online? Did a dentist or another specialist (i.e. Ent, neurologists, chiropractor, etc., ) discuss this with you. If in doubt, see a tmj/tmd specialist.
