A member asked:

What are some of the precautions when taking metamucil and citrucel?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Drink Plenty of H2O: Fiber acts like a sponge in the intestinal tract, providing "bulk" to help treat constipation. It is not a medicine--nothing is absorbed into your system. Like any sponge, it requires liquid to become effective--otherwise, it can actually cause constipation. Make an active effort to drink 64 ounces of water a day.
