Mismatch vs other?: It's possible there's a mismatch between you & your therapist, & s/he needs to hear your feelings. On the other hand, the therapy of some problems requires acknowledging destructive behavior patterns that interfere with healing. This can make one feel "worse" before feeling better. An example is patterns like substance abuse, which are common. Not sure if this describes you, though.

Stay the course: You aren't always going to leave your counselor feeling better. Good therapy means that you are going to be confronted with faulty behaviors, feelings, or thought processes that you've held on to for a long time. Find a psychologist that you can trust and stay the course. Talk to that person about it when your symptoms worsen rather than avoiding them and discontinuing therapy.
