Obstruction: There are many causes to this and can be from weakness of the swallowing muscles to an obstruction like a mass. There is also a very rare pocket called a zenkers diverticulum that can trap food and make it difficult to swallow. Difficulty swollowing needs to be diagnosed as this is symptom that needs to be diagnoses and treated to avoid complications like lung infections.
