A member asked:

Past few days my throat has been feeling pain but today it feels swollen and its become hard to swallow liquids not food what could cause this and what at home treatment is possible?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Can call Dr on video: Throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics needed), a cold or influenza, or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, if the throat symptoms are mild, people try over-the-counter treatments such as Tylenol, Motrin, or throat lozenges, for 1-3 days. COVID-19 infections tend to have cough, whereas strep usually lacks cough but has more throat pain.
