Bio
Dr. Malaika Witter Hewitt received her medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine in Stanford, CA, where she also completed her General Surgery Internship. She completed her Residency in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery as chief resident at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine & Science in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Witter Hewitt joined ENT of Georgia in May 2006 and is board certified with the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery. She recently passed the American Board of Otolaryngology recertification examination 2 years ahead of the scheduled 10 year recertification deadline.
She is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, the Georgia Society of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, and the Caribbean Association of Otolaryngology. Her areas of interest are pediatric disorders of the ear, nose and throat, sinus and allergy disorders, sleep disorders, thyroid, salivary glands, disorders of hearing and diagnostic neck surgery.
Dr Witter Hewitt utilizes state of the art technology on all of her surgical cases. She performs almost exclusively computer image-guided surgery using the STEALTH navigational system. Her instrument of choice for tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy is the Coblator because of the dramatic reduction in postoperative pain. All of her thyroid and parotid surgeries are performed with the use of the NIM nerve monitoring device.
Dr. Witter Hewitt was recently selected as on of America's top physicians by the 2008 Consumer's Research Council of America. She is accepting new patients in the St. Joseph, Decatur and John's Creek offices of ENT of Georgia and welcomes most major insurance plans.
