The reasons can vary: The roof of your mouth can swell for lots of different reasons: response to burns or other trauma, inflammation due to denture misuse, infected teeth, allergic reactions, aphthous ulcers, etc. If you aren't sure what caused it, you should find an oral surgeon to evaluate it.
