More muscle & tone: From exercising, one gets more muscle and better muscle tone, so should look better. If there is a small weight gain, that usually means the person is still eating more calories than he is working off. To lose some weight, he has to take in fewer calories than he uses. If there is continued "mysterious" weight gain, a primary care doctor can evaluate to see if there is a medical problem going on.
