Bacteria vs Viruses: I love this question. Strep throat is a bacterial infection with a severe bug known as streptococcus. It is quite debilitating and contagious. One with strep throat usually has fever, pain, difficulty swallowing and then secondarily symptoms in the ears and with the fever, increased heart rate and some muscle aches. STREP THROAT/ MONO: Strep throat is bacterial that can complicate the viral mono. Both have sore throat as sx and adenopathy but mono has more nodes in the neck area. Mono test is positive for the virus.
