See below: Mononucleosis is a viral infection caused by the epstein barr virus. A strep throat is a pharyngitis caused by the bacteria streptococcus pyogenes. They share several signs and symptoms like fever, exudative pharyngitis and enlarged neck lymph nodes. They can occur silmultaneously.
