A member asked:

What's nonketotic hyperglycinemia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Medical emergency: Nonketotic hyperglycemia is seen in type 2 diabetes when patients become severely dehydrated due to stress, infection, cortisone, etc and develop very high blood sugars that are commonly 1, 000 mg/dl or greater. It is a medical emergency that requires very large amounts of IV fluids and small amounts of Insulin for control. You also need to treat the infection or other cause(s).
