Very safe: But it is surgery that involves some form of anesthesia. Find a board certified (eg abfprs or abps) facial plastic surgeon with current hospital privileges and make sure that the surgery will be performed in an accredited facility (eg ahca for most surgery centers; aaahc or aaaasf for most office-based facilities) and that you are comfortable with the proposed anesthesia method and provider.

Not dangerous: All surgery has risks and especially with a purely elective, cosmetic surgey is it is essential to understand and minimize the risks. Common risks as with any surgery are bleeding, infection, nerve damage and unsatisfactory scarring. There are techniques to try to minimize these occurrences but if they should occur your surgeon should be able to recognize and treat them appropriately.

Very safe in general: However the exact risks depend on exactly what procedures you are considering. For example, there are fewer risks associated with most needle procedures like botox, juvederm, & sculptra. Schedule a consultation with a qualified facial plastic surgeon. You will get some recommendations and your surgeon will be able to explain all the relevant risks (and benefits!) to your procedures.

Surgery safety: Dear djzabberh, cosmetic facial plastic surgery is very safe. We properly have our patients checked out by a family physician who runs the necessary pre-operative tests. Anesthesia is also very safe. Best, nima shemirani.

Safe, but be careful: As with any procedure, there are risks. Bleeding, infection, and anesthesia complications are the most "common" risks that we talk about. There may be risk particular to that operation. Your board certified plastic surgeon will ask you about your health. He/she may have you see another doctor, (cardiologist, internist, hematologist) to make sure that you are healthy for your particular surgery.
