For the right reason: Certainly it is "OK," if done on the right patient by the right doctor for the right reasons! The right patients are mature (not old) and have thought long and hard about the pros and cons of the procedure and about who will perform it. The right doctors are board certified in plastic surgery and have a lot of experience doing the procedure. The right procedure is well worth the risks and the $!

OK for whom?: Cosmetic surgery, when performed by a competent surgeon is relatively safe. Check out the credentials of your plastic surgeon and make sure he/she is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the only board approved by the American Board of Medical Specialities for cosmetic surgery.

Yes.: Plastic Surgery can be in the form of reconstruction or cosmetic. Reconstruction is modification to change an abnormality (acquired, congenital or traumatic) to return to normal state. Cosmetic enhances an otherwise relatively normal appearance. Cosmetic is perfectly ok if the patient is a good candidate to undergo surgery, with reasonable expectations, healthy & stable mentally.
