Need checkup: You should see your doctor to have a full checkup - i would recommend basic blood test, stool studies and other tests such as colonoscopy if needed. Even if you did not have any symptoms we recommend colonoscopy at age 50 anyway. In terms of broad categories it could be an infectious or malabsorption process. More history is needed in terms of your diet and lifestyle patterns, recent travel etc..

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. If you have lost weight, it is imperative that you consult a gastroenterologist.

Diarrhea: If these symptoms are chronic and not due to medication, a recent viral, bacterial or parasitic infection, usual causes are irritable bowel syndrome, gluten intolerance or sensitivity or actual inflammatory bowel disease. Lactose intolerance is less likely. If you can't pinpoint certain food intolerance, consult a gastroenterologist for evaluation and treatment. Appropriate tests will be ordered
