May be normal: When one has an abcess from a tooth, one has an infection. The treatment to control and stop the infection from spreading do so by removing the source of the problem. This is done via extraction of the tooth or endodontic (root canal) therapy. In either case, some of the infection is still present when either of the procedures is finished. Severity of the infection can delay a return to norm.

Call the dentist: Your pain may just be from trauma due to the work or it may be a sign of something more. Call you dentist and request to be seen.

See the same dentist: I would at least call the dental office. They know the specifics of your situation and can best assist you in managing this. Options may include antibiotics, perhaps analgesics, adjusting your bite on the tooth in question, or perhaps more dental treatment. Only your dentist knows best at this point.
