How long does it take to heal the belly button after an abdominoplasty?

About 10-14 days: The incision around the umbilicus in an abdominoplasty should be healed in 10-14 days. It will not reach its maximum strength, however, for about 6 weeks. The scar will continue to mature for 6-12 months.

4 weeks: For all scars to mature and achieve complete healing, a belly button takes 1 year. At 4 weeks, the scar around the belly button is 50 per cent healed.

A natural scar=long: Because the umbilicus is the body's only natural scar from childbirth it naturally does not have an abundant blood supply. It is created by dead tissue that atrophied. Therefore it takes longer for this to heal than typical wounds and it is not unusual to experience "scabby" healing for up to 3 weeks.

Several weeks: The skin will heal in 10 days or so but it will be afresh wound for a couple of more weeks. Then the scar will continue to evolve for a year or so.

Depends...: The incision line around the umbilicus heals at a similar rate as does the lower abdominal incision line. It may take up to a year for the scar to reach full maturity and to look aesthetically pleasing. It is not unusual for the scar to be pink/red for many weeks after the operation is performed.

Depends: In general, the surgical incision around the belly button should heal in the same time frame as your abdominoplasty incision. However, occasionally, the belly button can take a few weeks longer because of the effects the surgery has on its blood supply. Many belly buttons will bruise and have some scabby healing after surgery, but should generally be healed by 2-4 weeks.
