Sore thighs...: Sore thighs can be caused by many things, depending on age, medications, activity, and various metabolic or arthritic diseases, i suggest you consult an internist, neurologist or rheumatologist.

Not Likely: Degenerative disc disease alone usually causes primarily low back pain. There may be some radiating leg pain with it due to local nerve root irritation and referred pain but it is unusual for ddd to cause primarily thigh pain. There may be disc bulging or lumbar stenosis with nerve root compression or it may not be related to your back at all.
