See details: This is radicular pain caused by nerve compression in the lower back (sciatica). There are several approaches available including physical therapy, antiinflammatory meds and targeted injections. See an orthopedist or rheumatologist.

DDD and sciatica: Looks like you have already tried the first step: pt. Other things include pain management injections to the spine (epidural injections, nerve blocks etc.). And the last thing is time, most patients get better over several months. If these don't work and in the right patient surgery may be an option.

Can hip pain be a symptom of herniated disc? I have l 3-4 disc protrusion (per mri) from lifting a heavy object. Initially i only had low back and hip pain. Over the period of 2 weeks i developed pain down my left leg and into the sole of my left foot.
Sharp stab pain left low back hip shoot down left leg to knee radiating down to heel. Now have sharp stabb pain lower right back hip leg pain to knee.
