Diet categories: Foods we eat are divided in to groupings based on their composition and functions they fufill for our bodies needs. Carbohydrates are sugars and starches and provide energy for the body in the form of glucose. Proteins also supply energy but are really necessary for tissue repair and growth and immune system and hormonal function.Fats provide fatty acids needed for cell and nerve growth.
