Ice: I would recommend ice placed on the outside of your face leaving it on 20 minutes then off 20 minutes for the first 24 hours. This procedure should help reduce swelling.

Ice then heat: You should apply ice for the first 24-48 hours and then warm moist heat will help. In addition rinse with warm salt water and taking anti-inflammatory meds like advil (ibuprofen) or motrin.
