Not necessary: Though you can use evaporated milk- you would need to determine how to dilute it-whole milk is fine up to 2 years of age, although based on your child's weight, your doctor may suggest lower fat milk.

No difference: It makes no difference which brand of evaporated milk you use. Cow's milk is fine; and i recommend organic.

Milk: Any baby one year of age and older can tolerate cow whole mik. Evaporated milk is concentrated whole cow milk that has a longer half-life and does not need refrigeration.

Old standby: 40-50 years ago many moms made up their own formula by adding water to evaporated milk (lasted longer on the shelf) , boiling it so it could be digested ( cow milk is for cows) & tossing in some karo syrup & vitamins. If you're in a place where fresh milk is difficult to find, any product should be similar & should be diluted 1/2 & 1.2 with water. Regular milk is preferred for convenience.
