My baby 5 months old and found to be allergic to cow milk protein so drinks aptamil pepti. how can i choose right formula after he is 6 months? should i continue anti allergic formula? is it possible he outgrow the allergy and have regular formula?

True cow milk ALLERGY is rare, and the infant would NOT be expected to outgrow. It can be DEADLY if unrecognized and reintroduction may lead to serious events. INTOLERANCE to cow-milk-based formulas is relatively common & the infant could become cow-milk tolerant when older. It is best to work with your doc to find out the proper label.

The formula should be continued. Re testing may be performed in one year to reassess. Encourage a variety of solid foods and avoid cow's milk products for now. Watch for signs of blood in the stool and rash. Review his growth chart. A virtual consult with Healthtap is available.
