May be a blood clot.: The pain in the leg can be coming form different sources. It can be a blood clot, muscle spasm, tear in a muscle or a ligament, broken bone; or referred pain form the back. You need to see your doctor asap to determine possible cause and take it from there.

Something serious: When you have pain that doesn't go away with normal measures, it should be checked out sooner rather than later. The list of things this could be is long but includes a blood clot, aneurysm, infection of skin or other structures, or malignancy.
