Why do some people seem very quick to self-diagnose themselves with bi-polar?

Answers: I am not quite sure but there is increasing awareness of the positive aspects of bipolar. This is probably, on the whole, good. It is also true that it is very reassuring to have an explanation for behavior that has been troubling for a long time.

Popular/ Anger : Bipolar disorder is self-diagnosed and misdiagnosed for a number of reasons. It is currently the "popular" diagnosis, like multile personality disorder was a decade ago. Also, the symptom of irritability has been attributed by many just to bipolar disorder, even though it occurs in a lot of other illnesses. Lastly, it is hard to diagnose, even by experts, making it an easy target for people to use.
