Hemorrhoids: In women, hemorrhoids are usually related to pregnancy, from compression of the pelvic veins. In men, they're usually related to constipation & straining. You may feel the soft, spongy veins protruding from the anus, and have occasional blood spotting on the toilet paper. High residue diet, fiber supplements, increased water intake helps. Suppositories & cortisone cream treat flare-ups.
