A member asked:

What is ursodeoxycholic acid?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It is a bile acid: Primary bile acids are made in the liver and stored within the gall bladder. Urso is a secondary bile acid. It can be made by intestinal bacteria which process the primary bile acids. It is used for dissolving gallstones and for treating a disorder called primary biliary cirrhosis. Sometimes it may be used for other bile duct diseases.
