See a doctor.: That doesn't necessarily mean you need medication, but a psychologist or psychiatrist can help you determine the best therapy, be it group therapy, individual psychotherapy, medication, or a combination thereof. In fact, the most benefit is usually derived from psychotherapy alone, but possibly with mild medication such as beta blockers.

The most effective treatments are relaxation training (sometimes with the aid of biofeedback) plus cognitive therapy that includes gradual exposure to anxiety-producing situations in imagination and real life. Therapy is sometimes augmented with medication and is quite successful.
