Tuberculosis: The most common type of TB is pulmonary which is very contagious and transmitted through droplet spread. The usual procedure is to test every possible contact. Everybody in the same household are tested. Tuberculin testing is standard. However, quantiferon blood testing may also be performed. If you test positive but have a negative chest x-ray, you will need treatment for about 9 months.
