Excersice and diet: Eat as a family. Do not depend on fast food for your daily meals. Limit screen time to 1 hr a day . Limit amount of carbohydrates . Get them involved in physical activity at least 4-5 hrsper week

Set an example: set an example of good eating habits- if you eat healthy- they may be more inclined to follow your lead. Give them plenty of healthy choices that are tasty. Portion control is also a big factor as is eating at home. Studies have shown kids who eat more meals at home tend to be less obese than those eating out more often-The reason is fatty foods, poor choices, and big portions

Education.: We have to target the young, I feel. Teach young kids the value of proper nutrition and regular exercise. Limit time with video games, computers and texting. At home, emphasize healthy food choices at the family table where everyone eats together. Desserts are special, not daily. Teach the kids,,and their parents and grandparents will follow.
