It varies: You can push as long as 2 hours (3 hours with an epidural as long as everything else is optimized (good fetal heart tracing, good ucs, good fetal position, etc). These are the maximum times allowed before serious intervention is required. Many moms push only a few times, this morning, she only pushed 30 minutes (1st baby, 7#7oz). It helps having someone coach & encourage you to optimize pushing.

It depends. : It depends on whether you have had a baby born previously and how large the baby is. The average time if you have not had a previous delivery is one hour ( up to 2 hr). If you have had a delivery the pushing is about 1/2 hour up to 1 hour.
