Has anyone had their son, ages 3-5, have surgery for undescended testicles?

CryptorchidismUndesc: This condition is fairly common. It should be handled by a board certified pediatric urologist or general surgeon.

Yes. : Since there is a significantly higher risk of cancer if the undescended testicle is operated on after puberty, the recommendation is for early correction. Age 3-5 can be difficult, of course, since they are more aware of their genitals & have been potty trained than those age 3 or less. The most important thing is to first have a full evaluation by a pediatric urologist.

If diagosed age 3-5: Number of boys have "gliding" undescended testes, which originally were thought to be descended. Few were just missed. These boys should have testes brought down to maximise their ferttility potential. Udts have a higher incidence of cancer in later life, orchidopexy surgery does not change incidence of future malignancy, but testis +/or is easy to palpate in scrotum + cure rate> w early diagnosis.
