ADHD. Vs bipolar: Bipolar disorder is primarily a mood disorder. Adhd affects attention and behavior. It causes symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. While adhd is chronic, bipolar disorder is usually episodic. There are periods of normal mood interspersed with the depression or hypomania. So time of duration of symptoms is the key to diagnosis. Stimulants also aggravate bipolar disease.

Adhd/bipolar: Adhd shows inattention, impulsivity, hyperactivity. Bipolar shows cycles of depression alternating with manic or hypomanic phases. Could have both at same time, hence assessment by professional is good way to know.

Could be both: Adhd & bipolar disorder are conditions that require expert intervention for diagnosis & treatment. A person could have either or both at the same time (comorbid conditions). Bd are usually more rageful, irritable, aggressive & angry. Bd folks cycle through moods such as depression or extreme happiness (euphoria or mania). Adhd folks tend not to be that way.
