Is adhd or bipolar disorder passed onto my children genetically?

PROBABLY, BUT...: Studies suggest that these things may have a genetic basis. However science hasn't reached a level where you could be told about your personal pregnancy. If these illnesses are in your family history or the father's, the odds of transfer to children become greater.

Sometimes: As with anything else about yourself - hair color, skin color, etc - you may have some genetic traits that COULD be passed onto a child that then develops similar symptoms. It's not an absolute though but it is something your child's MD will factor into decision making IF your child is being evaluated for behavioral concerns. Be honest about your medical history during your child's visit.
