Slight: Wisdom teeth are just called wisdom teeth because they are the last ones to erupt in the mouth typically between the ages of 16-24. Because of this many times there is no room for them to erupt and they may not erupt (be fully encased in bone), partially erupt, or erupt sideways. Thus a wisdom tooth extraction may be a little more complicated as some bone may be need to be removed.

It depends: Sometimes wisdom teeth are impacted, which may mean moving gum tissues back and removal of bone. This can lead to swelling after surgery.

There is difference: The extraction of wisdom teeth involves a surgical procedure that is far from a simple tooth extraction. Many patients require the treatment by an oral surgeon. The key to successful and uneventful recovery from wisdom teeth surgery is appropriate anesthesia and finding the right dentist/surgeon.
