Saphris (asenapine): Possible, depending on how rapid the dose was increased, your age, your tolerance level, and what other medications you are taking at same time.

It can: In clinical trials approximately one in 5 to 1 in 4 individuals experienced sedation or somnolence in association with saphris (asenapine) at doses of five or 10 mg twice daily. Sometime psychiatrist will prescribe all 20 mg at bedtime. In this case the likelihood of sedation or somnolence may be greater.

Saphris (asenapine): Somnolence is a common side effect (13 to 15%). Insomnia (15 to 16%) may exacerbate this .
