Is it dangerous to your lower predisone dosage too quickly?

It can be: The longer one is on prednisone therapy and the higher the dose the more hazardous it is to lower the dose too rapidly. You should not attempt this yourself but follow a plan your doctor has ordered regarding dose and whether to lower or raise or stop the treatment and how fast.

Famously: It causes atrophy of the adrenal cortices and if you stop at once, and get stressed, you suddenly have no cortisol / glucocorticoid and this can kill you abruptly and surprisingly. I'm a pathologist; please accept my warning here and don't discontinue your rx suddenly.
