how can i tell if i have a strong immune system or just have gotten lucky with not getting sick?

No great way: The immune system is a complicated connection of different defences against different types of organisms. There is no one lab test that can tell you if you have a "strong" immune system. There are lab tests that can detect one "limb" of the immune system that is "weak" or "dysfunctional". If you're healthy be thankful regardless of the cause. See a physician annually for preventative care.
