Nephrotic syndrome: Nephrotic syndrome (ns) is a condition defined as having a low serum Albumin level, more than 3 grams of protein in your urine/day and high levels of cholesterol in your blood. It is not a diagnosis, merely abnormal lab values. It can be caused by diabetes as well as other causes. One should see a doctor to have a 24 hour urine collection for creatinine clearance and protein. Start statins.
