What is nephrotic syndrome?

Protein in urine: Nephrotic syndrome is caused by dysfunction of the kidney in which large amount of protein leak into the urine. Typically three components of the syndrome are protein grater than 3.5 gms per day, low serum albumin, and high serum cholesterol.

Nephrotic syndrome: Nephrotic syndrome (ns) is a condition defined as having a low serum Albumin level, more than 3 grams of protein in your urine/day and high levels of cholesterol in your blood. It is not a diagnosis, merely abnormal lab values. It can be caused by diabetes as well as other causes.
