Depends: If traditional brackets were used, they are removed with forceps that snap under the bracket breaking the bond...It can feel very odd and may even feel uncomfortable...It shouldn't hurt.

Should not: They actually come off usually very easily with the proper instruments. Then the teeth are cleaned of excess cement and polished. It really should not hurt. Then your teeth very smooth and almost slippery because you are used to the rough brackets. Congrats on getting them done.

Brace Removal: No, in most cases it does not hurt; however, your teeth may be a little sensitive. Your orthodontist and the assistant will be very careful i'm sure.

It shouldn't: Getting braces on or off does not hurt. There is an adjustment at first to the new appliances in your mouth both from the soft tissue, (inside lips and cheeks), and on the teeth themselves. This sensitive adjustment time can be uncomfortable, but should only last about 2-4days on average. Removal is very easy and pain free. During treatment, the adjustments may render the teeth tender for abt 2d.

Maybe a little: All patients are different when it comes to taking braces off. Some have particularly sensitive teeth and gums and others actually laugh because it tickles. In general if the gums are healthy the discomfort is minimal and very short lasting.

NOT REALLY: The braces are designed to be removed easily and most patients don't experience pain during this procedure. Removal of the glue that stays on the teeth might be more uncomfortable than the removal of the actual bracers.

No: In fact the reason you were warned in the beginning not to bite hard things is because they are taken off using about the same amount of force that you would put on them when biting.

A bit: There is discomfort during the process of braces and the adhesive removal. Plan ahead and take an over-the-counter analgesic like Motrin or advil (ibuprofen) an hour before the appointment.

Minimal discomfort: The discomfort of having braces removed is no more than having your teeth cleaned.

Brace removal: Very little discomfort will be felt. Tell your doctor if you have a low pain threshold so she can take extra care of you.

No: being debonded is painless. Most patients tell us it feels weird to not have the braces on, but no one complains that the removal hurt at all.

Easier that "on!": Getting braces off sometimes means some mild very transient discomfort. No anesthetics, other than the Orthodontist's bad jokes, are necessary. The healthier your gums, the less you'll feel the removal. And wait until you see your beautiful smile...it's worth all the hard work. Enjoy!

Usually not: take some over the counter pain medication before appointment and it should help

Braces off hurt?: Normally, there should be very little discomfort with the removal of braces. There may be some pressure, but rarely any pain.
