Every time you eat: Food or beverages can slip in under the retainer. This could lead to tooth decay or painful gums. Clean your retainers after every time you eat or drink something other than water.

Depends: If you are eating with the retainers in place you should clean them after every meal or snack. If you wear them just at night you should clean them every morning. If you wear them all day you should clean them once in the morning and once at night.

Twice + soak: Gently brush retainers without toothpaste 2x/day...Make sure wires are shiny and plastic doesn't feel slimy. Soak in denture cleaner 1x/day...Follow package directions. If you can find your retainer case, with the lights out, by just sniffing, it needs a good soaking in denture cleaner also.
