Indicates infection: Glandular fever, an uncommon name for mononucleosis, triggers immune responses in those infected. The immune system makes igg, igm, & IgA antibodies against the epstein-barr (ebv) virus. Elevated IgA against ebv mean good active immune function. Total IgA - IgA directed against all sorts of stuff - is not elevated in mono. This could be result of misunderstanding of 1989 report by wakiguchi et al.
