A member asked:

If you smoke what changes will they see on a chest x-ray question?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Many: Early on very little or no change will be detected. The longer one smokes, changes related to COPD (like lung hyperinflation) can be seen. When lung destruction starts to occur, chest x-ray can detect the typical changes of emphysema. Finally, pulmonary nodules and masses can be detected - some of which are cancerous. It is easy for me to say because i don't smoke, but please stop smoking asap!
