A member asked:

Can a lice nit still hatch after being plucked from the head?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unlikely : Nits need the warmth and humidity of proximity near the scalp to hatch. Those that do hatch need a blood meal within hours to survive, so it is unlikely any would survive long off the scalp.
