Nit Picking: Over the last few years lice has become increasingly more difficult to treat. OTC medications such as Nix (permethrin) and Rid are the first options. If they fail then see your doctor for more aggressive plans. The louse is the organism that you are infected with. The Nit is the house he lives in. Nits are not a sign of new infection but previous infection. A nit comb helps to get rid of these.
