I read about people who elect to have limbs removed. why would a doctor do this for them?

Should not: Doctors should not remove limbs in normal healthy person with no abnormality .. If there is refractory disease like arterial occlusion with no surgical option and in cases of refractory pain an amputation is needed sometimes.
