A member asked:

Would skin grafting help in a patient with 3rd degree degree burns over 50% bsa?

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!: Absolutely. There may be some disagreement as to the types of grafts full or partial or keratinocyte transplants, or pinch grafts. Closure of these wounds will help to decrease loss of fluids and decrease metabolic demands and decrease the risk of sepsis.

Yes, the only way: This is a very significant burn and the patient's only hope of survival is with skin grafting. A burn of this size must be treated in a regional burn center for the patient to have any chance to survive. Besides the skin, attention must be paid to nutrition, infection control, lung status, therapy, and the patient's psychological and social well-being. This is a challenging situation.
